APSA AND ASPSA NAME JOANNE MARGNELLI 2022 MEMBER OF THE YEAR
Inaugural Award Recognizes Practice and Community Leadership
Costa Mesa, Calif., Oct. 15, 2022 - Two professional associations serving the plastic surgery field - the Association of Plastic Surgery Assistants (APSA) and the American Society of Plastic Surgery Administrators (ASPSA) - have named Joanne Margnelli of Middletown, Conn., recipient of the inaugural Member of the Year award.
Margnelli has managed Mid State MD and Personal Choice Surgical Center for Dr. John Borkowski for 30 years. In nominating Ms. Margnelli, Dr. Borkowski noted "...How do I get across the outstanding qualities of my practice manager. Her dedication to our patients and the practice of plastic surgery has never wavered. She is the glue that holds it together. Above all else, this honest and unassuming person is respected by patients for her compassion and makes the physician-patient relationship more comfortable. She deserves this recognition."
A committee of members from both organizations reviewed nominations from across the country. Ms. Margnelli will receive a cash prize of $1,000, and scholarship to attend the 2015 APSA/ASPSA Educational Symposium, courtesy of CareCredit, a leading healthcare credit card.
"We are thrilled to launch this recognition program for our members and to see plastic surgeons nominate their superstars with such enthusiasm and respect. Dr. Borkowski's letter about Joanne stood out as he described how she grew his practice over the course of 30 years, with initiative, courage and an unwavering commitment to safety, process improvement and patient care," said Melanie Morrison, president, APSA and Pattie Wszolek, president, ASPSA in a joint statement.
The Member of the Year award, made possible in collaboration with CareCredit, recognizes plastic surgery office professionals for their innovative thinking, business acumen and leadership qualities within their practice and their community.
